The Old Dog Still Has New Tricks

After 20 years of successfully creating a program that has endless opportunities, Adobe has done it again with the new addition, ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS5. There are numerous new additions worth mentioning such as;  Edge Detection, Content-Aware Fill, Puppet Warp, 64-bit for Macintosh, enhanced 3D features (Extended Version only), painting and brush enhancements, enhanced HDR, auto Lens Corrections, Mini Bridge, and numerous other small features.

The Content Aware Fill feature was by far the most impressive and talked about feature in the lead up to the launch of Photoshop CS5. The tool is exceptionally simple yet very effective. All you got to do is create a selection with the Lasso, Marquee, or your preferred selection method and simply hit your Delete key. Then, the program will pop up a dialouge box which will allow you to choose Content Aware Fill. However, like any other tool, the Content Aware Fill feature has its limitations and does not always work as expected. While this tool has great results for the time put, sometimes simpler tools such as the Patch Tool, Clone Tool, and Spot Healing Brushes.

Overall, great product and with the launch of Photoshop CS5 I hope shortly I can collect enough money to purchase the product because of the new amazing features it beholds. As a designer, keeping up with the top-notch technology is key to success and this product is definitely on my Christmas list =)

  9. It's nice, but can be quite confusing sometimes. Or maybe it's just me and my lack of interest to learn it properly. I just do trial and error.
